1 November, Minsk /Olga Belyavskaya - BELTA/. The cost of travel on international passenger trains is increasing in Belarus from November 1, the BELTA correspondent was informed at the Belarusian Railway administration.
"Since the calculations for travel costs to Western European countries are made in euros, and to CIS and Baltic countries - in Swiss francs, the cost of travel documents for these destinations will change from November 1 due to the establishment of a single exchange rate for these currencies by the National Bank of Belarus," the Belarusian Railway explained. They noted that the Swiss franc exchange rate has increased by 57%. Taking this increase into account, the cost of travel on international trains will be determined. The ticket price will traditionally depend on the travel distance.
For example, the cost of travel on the Minsk-Irkutsk train in a compartment carriage will be Br3,525,220 instead of Br2,245,800, and in a reserved seat carriage - Br1,754,430 instead of Br1,119,670. For a trip to Moscow on train No. 26 from Minsk, a compartment carriage will cost Br593,190 instead of Br381,180, and a reserved seat carriage - Br296,100 instead of Br192,240. A ticket for the express train No. 52 Minsk-Saint Petersburg in a compartment carriage will cost Br804,980 instead of Br550,810, and in a reserved seat carriage - Br411,270 instead of Br265,420.
Passenger transportation in international service to CIS and Baltic states is carried out in accordance with the agreement on interstate passenger tariffs. "Tariffs are set in the tariff currency and are applied separately by participating railways for the actual travel distance (ticket) and surcharges for travel in a carriage of the corresponding category of the owning railway," the specialists explained.
The Belarusian Railway added that the cost of travel on the Belarusian Railway in domestic trains has remained at the previous level. "Considering the social significance of domestic passenger railway transportation, tariffs for them have not been increased in Belarus this year," the Belarusian Railway emphasized. -0-
