The "White Flower" charity event will bring together Vitebsk residents and city guests today, BELTA was informed by the Vitebsk Diocese of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
Churches and Sunday schools of Vitebsk and its districts, institutions of primary and secondary education of the city, craftspeople, professional and amateur creative groups will take part in the event. The venues will be located near the Holy Assumption Cathedral, and the shopping and entertainment centres "Marko-City", "Green", "Korona". From 11:00 to 16:00, charity fairs of handmade items will be held here, along with concerts. Organisers promise entertainment, contests, and master classes for children and adults.
The funds raised during the event will be used to pay for rehabilitation courses for Vitebsk residents - four-year-old Andriushunas Roman and 11-year-old Raisky Yaroslav.
"Previously conducted treatment yields results, but we cannot stop! These children can be helped, and their lives and the lives of their parents can be made much easier and happier. The 'White Flower' is a wonderful opportunity to become part of a common good cause and to teach children compassion and empathy by your own example," the diocese emphasises.
The "White Flower" campaign is aimed at drawing public attention to the problems of severely ill children and their parents, raising funds to help such children, fostering practical skills of charity, and providing an opportunity for socially active residents and city guests to unite through joint creative activities and realise their accumulated potential. It dates back to the early 20th century. At that time, its goal was to raise funds to combat tuberculosis. The symbol of the campaign is a white flower, which is given to everyone who makes a voluntary donation. In Vitebsk, it was held in 2016-2018. -0-
