22 February, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Vitebsk will present renovated streets, improved courtyards, and millions of flowers to its citizens and guests for the XXII International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk". A comprehensive set of measures to prepare the city for the festival was approved today at a meeting of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, BELTA correspondent reports.
During the festival, Vitebsk has earned a reputation as a hospitable host and must do everything to maintain the high level of organisation of the arts celebration, stressed Oleg Merkushchev, First Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee. The plan for the regional centre's preparation for "Slavianski Bazaar" includes almost 200 events: from festive decoration of central streets to improvement of courtyards in the outskirts.
As noted by Nikolai Drylenko, First Deputy General Director of the Vitebsk City Communal Housing and Utilities Unitary Enterprise, significant funds are allocated this year for the repair of the street road network. Br23 billion has been allocated to road workers, which will primarily be used for repairing streets in the periphery and private sector. Br8 billion is allocated for capital and current repairs of 145 courtyards. Green spaces will play a special role in the festive decoration of the city this year: two million flowers and 20 thousand shrubs will adorn Vitebsk for the festival.
Significant work is planned at cultural sites where festival events will be held, and the renovation of public catering facilities and hotels will continue. Guests will be accommodated in eight hotels, five dormitories, and a suburban health resort. Along with cafes and restaurants, more than half a thousand retail outlets will operate at mass event venues.-0-
