No farmer, whether a head of a farming enterprise, an agronomist, or a machine operator, doubts that stubble cultivation is one of the most important tasks today.

We spoke with the agricultural workers of OJSC "Chereyshchina" and learned how important this agricultural technique is.

Stubble ploughing is the autumn soil cultivation for spring sowing. The application of stubble ploughing allows for super-early sowing and the completion of mass spring sowing within the shortest possible timeframe. Its correct and timely execution contributes to increased yields. This is because stubble ploughing plays a crucial role in combating soil-borne diseases and pests, helps reduce field weediness, conserves soil moisture, and ensures maximum benefit from fertilizer application," says the enterprise director, Sergey Pligovka.

As a rule, stubble cultivation is carried out after the harvesting of preceding crops. Soil subjected to stubble ploughing freezes under the influence of low temperatures, meaning it "gets cold." Hence the name – stubble (zyab').
