Additionally, 64 tourist campsites have been equipped within the territory of the Braslav Lakes National Park. Currently, 95 parking spaces for vehicles have been set up in mass recreation areas, along with toilets, containers, and bins.
In Vitebsk, seven locations have traditionally been designated for recreation: on the Western Dvina River in the Park of the Soviet Army (Mazurino), in the parks of the 1000th Anniversary and Frunze, at Victory Square (descent to the river), on the Vitba River near water intake No. 1 and Yubileiny Bridge on Lyudnikov Avenue, as well as on an artificial reservoir in Sokolniki near the "Yuzhnaya" boiler house.
Those wishing to go on holiday outside the regional centre can stop at Lake Sosno in the village of Dolzha, Vitebsk district. In the neighbouring Gorodok district, Lakes Lugovoye (southeast side), Losvido (north side), and Yezeryshche (beach on Pionerskaya Street) have been designated for this purpose. In Shumilino district, these include Lakes Leskovichi, Razvan (near the village of Neporoty), Shumilinskoye in the district centre itself, and Budovest (agrotown Ambrosovichi).
"It is important not to forget that washing vehicles and other technical equipment is not permitted within the boundaries of water protection zones and coastal strips. Parking vehicles closer than 30 m horizontally from the shoreline is also prohibited," the committee reminded.
Vladimir Sinkevich, Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Centre for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, stated that specialists from territorial centres are monitoring recreation areas until June 1. Forty-four recommendations were issued to business entities to eliminate shortcomings. Currently, most of them have been implemented. "160 water samples were collected in recreation zones. Currently, no samples with microbiological and sanitary-chemical indicators inconsistent with requirements have been identified. Similar inspections will be conducted at least twice a month in the future," noted Vladimir Sinkevich.
To ensure the safety of water recreationists, joint raids by representatives of the state sanitary inspection, the committee for natural resources and environmental protection, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, law enforcement agencies, and other interested services are planned from May to August.
