Over 100 new enterprises and 29 production facilities have been launched in the economy of the Vitebsk region in the first half of the year, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economy Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
In total, from January to June of the current year, 100 new enterprises and 29 production facilities have commenced operations in the region across all types of economic activity. Among them are MILA BSV Knitwear Factory LLC for the production of outerwear (Verkhnedvinsk district), Promis Plant Private Unitary Enterprise (production of machinery and equipment for agriculture, Postavy district), and Drev-Invest LLC (sawmilling and planing of wood, Sharkovshchina district). Vitebsk has seen the addition of Novaya Lady LLC, Polyshelk LLC, and AltezaGrand Private Enterprise to its sewing production sector, creating over 130 jobs. A feed production workshop has been established at Vitebsk Broiler Factory OJSC.
Currently, large-scale investment projects with completion dates in 2017 are ongoing at some major enterprises in the region. For instance, the second stage of modernization is actively underway at Orsha Flax Combine. A workshop for the production of dry whey and dry milk products is under construction at Glubokoye Dairy and Canning Plant OJSC. At the Braslav branch of this enterprise, the existing cheese production is being modernized with the aim of increasing the output of hard cheeses to 15 tonnes per day.
The committee also noted the active work of the region's enterprises and organizations in enhancing competitiveness and the quality of manufactured products. This has enabled the shipment of innovative products worth Br1.6 billion in the first half of the year, accounting for 30.7% of the total volume of shipped products. "Overall, the industrial complex of the region operated profitably during the past period," the Economy Committee concluded.
