More than 120 student construction brigade members from the Vitebsk region will work at facilities in Russia during the third work semester, Viktor Glushin, First Secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM, told a BELTA correspondent.
According to him, young people will have the opportunity to work as part of construction, agricultural, pedagogical, environmental, service, and medical brigades. Their work will be related to the construction, reconstruction, and improvement of facilities not only within the region but also beyond its borders. Student brigade members will assist in harvesting crops, help care for forest crops, and work as counselors and educators.
The official opening of the third work semester for the youth of the Vitebsk region will take place today. The solemn ceremony will be held at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union M.F. Shmyrev with the participation of representatives from local authorities, veterans of the student construction brigade movement, the regional committee of the BRSM, delegations from districts, representatives of educational institutions, pupils, students, and working youth, and creative groups. During the event, representatives of the student construction brigade movement of the Vitebsk region will receive assignments for the "Work Semester - 2018" to work at socially significant facilities, and then they will participate in the quest game "Addresses of Memory," related to the events of the Great Patriotic War, and plant apple trees on the territory of the museum complex. There will also be an initiation into the members of the foreign pedagogical brigade "NLO named after M.F. Shmyrev" and the now traditional campaign "We Choose a Student Brigade!".
Referring to past work seasons, Viktor Glushin emphasized that the young people working in student teams annually prove themselves in the best possible way, working both at facilities within the region and beyond. For example, at the All-Belarusian Youth Construction Project at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, and in the Russian Federation. "They are distinguished by their diligence, responsibility, and initiative; any undertaking is within their capabilities," noted the First Secretary of the regional organization.
