The two-day international forum "Innovative Business - Investments of the Future" concluded in Vitebsk today. Enterprises, organizations, and higher education institutions of the region presented numerous proposals for investors' consideration. Priority areas included innovative technologies in logistics, energy saving, food and woodworking industries, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, and tourism. More than 200 representatives of business circles from Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Norway, India, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, and Spain, who attended the forum, expressed interest in the presented investment projects.
The forum format included new forms of work. In particular, interested representatives of enterprises and local authorities of the Vitebsk region held a contact-cooperation exchange and a round table "Promising Directions of Belarusian-Latvian Investment and Innovation Cooperation" with a substantial delegation from Latvia, comprising about 80 people. The new working experience received positive feedback from the guests.
The main outcome of the business forum was the signing of five agreements and five memoranda of understanding on cooperation with foreign investors and companies. For instance, the foreign organization Live Green Org Ngo intends to implement a project worth €1.7 million in the field of industrial waste processing and biogas production at the "Chashniki Distillery" branch of the Polotsk Winery. The Azerbaijani production and commercial firm "Tural K" has officially documented its intention to build a plasterboard production plant with an investment volume of €800,000 in the Polotsk district. A representative of the foreign company OU Euro Petrol System signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of three shopping, entertainment, and cultural-business centers in Vitebsk. Sennensky and Dokshitsky district executive committees also managed to attract the attention of potential investors.
A number of new facilities may soon appear in Polotsk. An agreement with the local city executive committee on the construction of a retail facility worth $1.4 million was signed by a representative of IZAO "Glera Market", and an agreement on the construction of three modern car wash complexes (600 thousand euros) was signed by SOOO "Beskontaktnaia avtomoyka". Further deepening of economic contacts will be facilitated by a cooperation agreement in the field of information exchange between the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, the information and consulting association "Gorod Vitebsk i Kompaniia" and Vidzeme Television and Radio Company (Latvia). The expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Belarusian and Latvian enterprises is intended to be facilitated by agreements concluded by the Vitebsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Liepaja branch of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Latvia, as well as FEZ "Vitebsk" with the Confederation of Industrialists of Latvia.
Overall, the business forum was productive and promises to yield results in the form of new joint projects.
The event is designed to activate cooperation processes between regions, cities, and economic entities, promote the growth of export and investment potential, facilitate the implementation of joint investment projects, and present innovative ideas and developments.
