On September 14, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. More than 20 programmes implemented in the Vitebsk region are aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among the population. This was stated today at the opening of the IV specialized exhibition-fair "Vitebsk Region - for a Healthy Lifestyle-2011" by the Head of the Healthcare Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Yuri Derkach, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. "Regional programmes such as 'Clean Water', for the development of roadside services, for the intensification of crop production, and many others, through the implementation of a specific set of measures, aim to improve the level and quality of people's lives, and consequently, their health," emphasized Yuri Derkach. Referring to the organisation of health fairs, mass sports and entertainment events with the participation of various categories of citizens, the Head of the Department recalled that all of them are tasked with attracting the public's attention to issues of maintaining their own health as the highest value, motivating them to lead a healthy lifestyle, and obtaining as much information on this issue as possible. "And we see a growing interest from people in such events," he noted. Over 50 industrial enterprises, medical, educational, and public organisations from Vitebsk participated in the "Vitebsk Region - for a Healthy Lifestyle-2011" exhibition-fair. The exhibition display provides an opportunity to get an overview of a wide range of products and services that promote a healthy lifestyle. Visitors can receive consultations from a cardiologist, paediatrician, endocrinologist, allergist, oncologist, dentist, and other specialists, obtain a health passport, undergo an ECG, or have their blood pressure measured. The exhibition will be accompanied by numerous presentations of goods and services by its participants. The exhibition-fair is organised by the Regional Centre for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, the Vitebsk Branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the support of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.-0-
