In total, this year forestries have prepared about 50 thousand fir and pine trees for sale, including about 300 trees of various heights in tubs. The sale of the latter will be conducted by Vitebsk, Polotsk, and Orsha forestries. Buyers will receive a leaflet with care instructions for the tree, so that it can be planted in the forest in the spring.
For the convenience of the public, the operating hours of the Christmas tree markets have been extended as much as possible: those wishing to purchase the main symbol of the winter holiday will be welcomed here until 8:00 PM. Christmas tree bouquets will be a serious alternative to traditional fir and pine trees. "For the last five years, there has been a steady demand for them. This option is suitable for everyone who plans to have an artificial tree but wishes to bring the real aroma of Christmas and New Year into their home," the VGPFPA noted.
In Vitebsk, 16 sites have been designated for Christmas tree markets. Beshenkovichi, Bogushevsky, Vitebsk, Shumilinsky, Liozno, Surazh, and Gorodok forestries will bring their trees here. In the regional centre, it is planned to sell 12.7 thousand fir and pine trees.
During the pre-New Year holidays, the forest protection service will switch to an enhanced mode of operation. Patrol activities to prevent illegal logging of trees will be carried out jointly with representatives of the State Automobile Inspectorate and the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora. Special attention will be paid to patrolling forest areas located near settlements and young coniferous stands. Posts will be organised at the entrances to the forests. Buying a desired tree will be cheaper than illegally felling one, the association added.
