In the Vitebsk region, 211 organizations have implemented an occupational health and safety management system in accordance with STB 18001-2009 since the beginning of the year, the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed BELTA correspondent. Serious attention is paid to the issue of implementing an occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) in accordance with the requirements of the state standard STB 18001-2005(2009) "Occupational health and safety management systems. Requirements" in the region. At the same time, out of more than 12 thousand enterprises and organizations, OHSMS comply with the requirements of the national standard STB 18001-2009 in only 1.5 thousand, or 13% of the total number. The smallest number of organizations that have implemented this standard are located in the Vitebsk (12), Liozno (10), Tolochin (18), Polotsk (22), and Shumyly (23) districts, and in terms of cities - in Polotsk (78). "Heads of enterprises and organizations need to pay special attention and take comprehensive measures to intensify the implementation and improvement of OHSMS, as well as to staff their personnel with qualified occupational health and safety specialists," the committee emphasized. To stimulate the activities of employers and work collectives in creating healthy and safe working conditions, state administration bodies held occupational health and safety reviews and competitions in the first half of the year, in which over 680 organizations of the region participated. The winner of the nomination among non-production organizations was the Vitebsk State Technological University. Among production organizations with a staff of up to 100 employees, the winner was "Rossonskoye DRSU-109", a branch of KUP "Vitebskoblodorstroy". Among production organizations with a staff of 101 to 500 employees, the Orsha Experimental Mechanical Plant "Metalist" was recognized as the best, and for those with over 500 employees - KUP "Polotskvodokanal". In total, expenditures on occupational health and safety measures in the first half of the year in the Vitebsk region amounted to Br57.7 billion. Funds were directed towards the purchase of personal protective equipment, workwear, training of specialists, milk, and workplace re-equipment.
