The northern region intends to modernise its ambulance service and practically complete the process of strengthening the service's material and technical base by 2025. "We plan to replace all vehicles that have exceeded 100% of their operational life with new vehicles equipped with medical equipment according to the standard specifications for ambulances," said the chief physician.
According to him, this year the Vitebsk region intends to replace 33 ambulances. In total, the service's vehicle fleet comprises 140 vehicles, and replacements will continue in the future. Viktor Gomonov explained that the vehicle fleet requires updating almost annually, as vehicle parts wear out, causing the vehicle to lose its original technical characteristics.
The Chief Physician of the Regional Ambulance Service Centre recalled that earlier in January, the vehicle fleet of the Orsha Inter-district Centre for Ambulance and Emergency Medical Care was updated. In December, such vehicles were also acquired by Novopolotsk and Polotsk, with two for each city. The plan for 2022-2024 provides for the acquisition of 18 ambulances. Orsha, Polotsk, and Novopolotsk will receive two more vehicles each by the end of the year. Last year, according to the chief physician, the vehicle fleet for the departments in Chashniksky, Tolochinsky, and Dubrovensky districts was completely updated.
