More than 30 observers from the CIS will work at polling stations in the Vitebsk region on election day for deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the fifth convocation, said Leonid Dorofeenko, Deputy Head of the Organizational and Personnel Management Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, to a BELTA correspondent. Among the foreign short-term observers will also be members of the election observation mission of the OSCE/ODIHR. More than 4,000 national observers intend to monitor the voting process. Thus, on average, there will be more than four observers per polling station. Elections in all 14 constituencies in the Vitebsk region will be held on an alternative basis. 42 candidates have reached the final stage of the election campaign, of which 22 represent political parties. As of the morning of September 20, 8.3% of the region's voters participated in early voting. In the Vitebsk region, 898 polling stations have been established, including 48 in sanatoriums, rest homes, hospitals and other inpatient medical and preventive institutions, and 2 in military units.
