The Main Directorate of Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that since September, amendments to the Road Traffic Regulations governing the use of SPDs have been in effect in the country. If such electric devices can reach speeds exceeding 25 km/h, they are subject to mandatory registration with the State Automobile Inspectorate after undergoing a conformity assessment of the vehicle in an accredited testing laboratory and obtaining an electronic passport. This procedure can be completed in a simplified manner until September 1, 2026.

Owners of electric vehicles are already registering them in accordance with the new requirements.

To date, 34 units of equipment have been registered with the Traffic Police after vehicle type approval and obtaining an electronic passport for them. Of these, 8 vehicles are registered as motorcycles, and the rest as mopeds.

Gomel Region leads in the number of entities that have used the simplified procedure, with 10 vehicles registered there. The other regions follow: Grodno and Minsk Regions – 6 each, the capital city and Mogilev Region – 4 each, Brest and Vitebsk Regions – 2 vehicles each.
