4 June, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. More than 300 young people from Vitebsk will take part today in the MES (Ministry of Emergency Situations) campaign "Do Not Leave Children Alone!", the Vitebsk Regional Department of the MES informed a BELTA correspondent.

The event will take place on the open ground of the Vitebsk Centre for Aesthetic Education "Maladzik". Children will be able to participate in sports competitions and contests, a thematic quiz, get acquainted with emergency rescue equipment and gear, try on the combat suit of an MES rescuer, watch demonstration performances by rescuers and a concert programme, as well as ask questions of interest on the topic of safe living.

The campaign is held within the framework of the republican project of the same name, dedicated to the International Children's Day and aimed at reducing the number of emergencies involving children and ensuring their overall safety at home, on the street, during recreation in nature and on water bodies. In the Vitebsk region, for this purpose, in early June, preventive talks will be held with adolescents in inpatient, school-based and day camps, additional education institutions and other facilities in all cities and districts, teaching them safety rules and algorithms of action in case of emergencies. The Vitebsk Regional Department of the MES appeals to all parents with a call to conduct similar work with their children. "Timely warn your child about what playing with matches can lead to, how to behave in case of a fire, what dangers may await at water bodies, in the forest, how to avoid emergencies and how to easily and with dignity get out of them. And most importantly, under no circumstances leave young children unattended!", the specialists emphasised.-0-
