More than 300 athletes from 23 countries will take part in the World and European Kettlebell Lifting Championship, which starts in Vitebsk on April 1. This was announced today at a press conference by the President of the International Kettlebell Lifting Confederation (IKLC), Anatoly Yezhov, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. This will be the 10th competition of this level according to the IKLC version. For the first time, the organizers decided to hold an open championship of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in kettlebell lifting as part of the world championship. Representatives from almost all continents will compete. Among the participants will be over 50 female athletes, the youngest of whom is 11 years old, and the most experienced will be a 75-year-old athlete from Russia. Over three competitive days, athletes, with the enthusiastic support of spectators, will face a multi-hour kettlebell marathon, which includes more than 20 exercises. In addition to the traditional clean and jerk, snatch, and long cycle clean and jerk, the championship program includes events such as kettlebell biathlon, marathon, men's, women's, and mixed relays, sprint, and semi-sprint. Performances by athletes in power juggling, as well as in the "freestyle kettlebell lifting" category, are also expected to be spectacular. Athletes of various weight and age categories will work with kettlebells of different weights. The open championship of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will include the performance of ten types of exercises, including spectacular ones such as power juggling, sprint, marathon, and freestyle kettlebell lifting. The award ceremony for winners and prize-winners will take place on April 3. The competitions will be held at Secondary School No. 46 of the regional center, where 12 platforms will be set up. Upon completion, all sports equipment – over 80 kettlebells of various weights – will be donated to School No. 46 in Vitebsk and two other educational institutions in the regional center, as well as to pupils of a correctional facility for minors, Anatoly Yezhov noted.
