More than 350 agricultural fairs were held in September-October in the Vitebsk region, the trade and services department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. Since the beginning of September, the region's population has purchased a total of 1.4 thousand tons of potatoes, 200 tons of cabbage, 70 tons of carrots, 60 tons of beetroot, 120 tons of onions, 30 tons of apples, and over 350 tons of grain. The total trade turnover for the two months exceeded Br12 billion. The needs of the population for agricultural products began to be met by the end of October, specialists noted. For example, while 26.6 tons of potatoes were sold to residents in cities last weekend, 35.7 tons were sold at fairs on October 22-23; for cabbage, the figures were 20.4 tons and 24.3 tons, respectively. However, to fully satisfy consumer demand, fairs will continue in November. Furthermore, agricultural enterprises are also scheduled to participate in pre-New Year's trade, which will be launched in the region in December. -0-
