More than 40 new buses will be supplied to the schools of the Vitebsk region by the 2019/2020 academic year. Br4.6 million of budget funds were allocated for these purposes, Dmitry Khoma, Head of the Main Department for Education of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, informed a BELTA correspondent.
The transport is being purchased in various capacities, which, along with the updating of the optimal route scheme, will fully meet the needs for transporting children and increase the energy efficiency of the vehicle fleet through the rational redistribution of transport, the source noted.
Across the region, 10.1 thousand schoolchildren will require transportation in the new academic year. For these purposes, 267 units of transport will be used, including new equipment. On average, two buses are purchased for each district. For example, Lepel district has already received a brand-new 22-seat school bus and another smaller capacity one with a special lift for wheelchair users, which will be used to transport children, including those with disabilities, to the local Centre for Correctional and Developmental Education and Rehabilitation. The largest number of vehicles (5 units) will be supplied this year to the Vitebsk district, where 690 students require transportation.
In total, over the past three years, the school vehicle fleet of the Vitebsk region has been replenished with more than 120 new buses.
