On June 16, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. The international exhibition of artistic holograms "Holography-2012. Vitebsk" will be held in the exhibition hall of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore from June 29 to August 19, the exhibition's organizing committee informed a BELTA correspondent. The exhibition will feature over 50 artistic holograms from 14 countries, including Australia, Great Britain, Israel, Iran, Canada, Lithuania, Portugal, Russia, Romania, the USA, Turkey, Ukraine, and France. Visitors will see several unique works with moving images: a spaceship, a jet fighter, cartoon characters, a sea shark that opens its mouth as visitors approach, and others. For the first time, the exhibition will showcase artistic holograms taken from exhibits of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore. The original and its holographic copy will be displayed side by side for visitors to compare. A significant portion of the exhibits (over 30) were created by Belarusian scientists and manufacturers, which "undoubtedly enhances the prestige of Belarus as a country where scientific research is actively conducted in the most advanced and promising areas of modern science, where innovative technologies are applied and high-tech production is developing," the organizing committee noted. The "Holography-2012. Vitebsk" exhibition is a continuation of the first world exhibition of artistic holograms "Holography-2011," which was successfully held in Minsk from October to December last year, attracting a record number of visitors – over 100,000 people. The initiator of the "Holography-2012. Vitebsk" exhibition and the chairman of its organizing committee is Belarusian scientist, founder of artistic and security holography in Belarus, academician of the International Academy of Engineering, and laureate of several prestigious prizes and awards, Leonid Tanin. Artistic holography is an art of the new millennium at the intersection of painting, psychology, and physics. It generates immense interest worldwide, being the most effective method for reflecting three-dimensional images on a flat surface.
