31 October, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. More than 50% of drivers with children in the Vitebsk region use child car seats, Alesya Seregina, Head of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Traffic Police Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent.
Around 200 drivers from the Vitebsk region participated in the preventive campaign "Child is the Main Passenger!", which took place in Belarus from 20 to 30 October. Over 100 drivers, including 21 women, used car seats when transporting children. The driving experience of most representatives of this most responsible category of car enthusiasts was quite significant - an average of 10-25 years, although beginners were also encountered.
"Overall, as the survey showed, all drivers expressed confidence that child seats increase children's safety and supported the initiative to make their use mandatory," added Alesya Seregina.
The traffic police preventive campaign to control the safety of children's travel by road transport "Child is the Main Passenger!" is designed to draw drivers' attention to child fatalities and injuries in road traffic accidents. Traffic police officers inspected vehicles carrying children, held explanatory talks with drivers, and presented them with special printed materials (colourful brochures, "child in car" stickers).-0-
