This opinion was voiced today at the solemn ceremony of taking the military oath by recruits of the 103rd Vitebsk Separate Guards Airborne Brigade by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin.

 

The head of the northern region emphasized that taking the military oath is not just a tribute to tradition, but the foundation of service to society, the state, the people, and a pledge to be honest and principled in performing military duty. "Patriotism is in our character. And we know to what heroic heights it elevates people when the Motherland is in danger. Our compatriots have more than once stood against various threats and encroachments on the state's independence. Servicemen have helped defend the country's freedom, achieving victory not only through their training and the power of weapons, but also through strength of spirit and great love for the Fatherland. The defence of the Fatherland and the readiness to come to the aid of a combat comrade are always stronger than any trials," said Alexander Subbotin.

He recalled that the soldiers of the 103rd Vitebsk Separate Guards Airborne Brigade are the successors and worthy continuers of the glorious combat traditions of the 103rd Guards Airborne Division, whose soldiers and officers participated in combat operations to defeat the Nazi troops in Hungary, Austria, and Czechoslovakia. Their feat in fulfilling their international duty in Afghanistan also became a source of pride and legend. "History and reality show that only together, united, can we counter the challenges and threats of the modern global world. Only a strong state with a combat-ready army can ensure sovereignty, freedom, and independence. Today, the 103rd Brigade is a well-coordinated, highly mobile unit that performs unique tasks in peacetime due to their specificity and complexity. This is precisely why the measure of responsibility of the unit's personnel is so profound and the requirements for service results are so serious," added the head of the Vitebsk region.
