Our district was visited by Elena Nedzvetskaya from the Arkhangelsk region.

The woman heads the public organisation for civic-patriotic education "Arkhangelsk Interregional Search Centre".

Her goal is to organise a motor rally "On the Roads of Memory and Feat" on the territory of the Vitebsk region, and in particular in the Lepel district, along the places where her fellow countrymen perished in the northern region of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War.

The people of Lepel are, of course, always open to such ideas and proposals, which is why they met with a representative of a fraternal people to discuss in detail the plan for holding joint patriotic events. At the round table of the district executive committee were the head of the public organisation, representatives of the district authorities and the search battalion.

It is expected that the Russian delegation will include about 30 people. These will include children aged 12 and over, students, and adults. The motor rally route includes settlements such as Lepel, Tolochin, Novolukoml, Chashniki, Sharkovshchyna, Miory, Braslav.

During archival research, we managed to find out that about two and a half thousand natives of the Arkhangelsk region gave their lives on the territory of your country, and more than half of them – on the territory of the Vitebsk region. For this reason, in recent years, we have been holding events in the Vitebsk region, changing the settlements each year. We are fraternal peoples, and the memory of that terrible war is our common memory, our common pain. Elena Nedzvetskaya's visit concluded with a tour of the Crafts Centre, where specialists from the Centre conducted an excursion for her.

Elena Vasilievna also took part in the district campaign "Paths of Victory".

It is symbolic that the visit of the resident of the Arkhangelsk region took place on the eve of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.
