As of the morning of March 18, over 6.5 thousand hectares have been ploughed for spring sowing in the Vitebsk region, with the first 219 hectares of grain crops sown on light soils.
According to Vitaliy Vorobyov, Head of the Department of Agriculture, Crop Production and Fodder Production of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee, the plan for spring sowing includes 141.5 thousand hectares of spring grain crops and 21.5 thousand hectares of rapeseed, about 11 thousand hectares of flax, and slightly over 100 thousand hectares of corn.
Currently, winter grain crops, hayfields, and pastures are actively being top-dressed, and organic fertilizers are being applied. We remind you that in autumn, 222 thousand hectares of winter grain crops and 64 thousand hectares of cruciferous crops were sown in the Vitebsk region.
