There is very little time left until the start of the most anticipated period for all schoolchildren – the summer holidays. And to ensure that as many children as possible can spend this time in an interesting and beneficial way, preparations for the summer season are in full swing in the Vitebsk region.
Special attention will be paid to the organisation of children's health improvement, focusing on creating safe living conditions, leisure activities, healthy and balanced nutrition, and, of course, taking into account the current epidemiological situation, control over compliance with sanitary and hygienic requirements will be strengthened.
From June 1, school-based day camps will open their doors to those who wish to attend, and from June 15, stationary health and sports and health camps will begin their work. At present, the occupancy of the shifts is being monitored.
However, it is already clear that the region is ready to provide opportunities for children's health improvement to all who wish.
A decision of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee "On the organisation of children's health improvement and employment in health (sports and health) camps during the summer period of 2020" has been adopted.
The planned intake figures for school-based day camps are over 25,000 schoolchildren, and for overnight camps – 18,000.
In addition, one of the important components of the summer health campaign remains the employment of teenagers.
For this purpose, it is planned to organise more than 80 labour and recreation camps in the region. Approximately 1,400 students will have the opportunity to improve their health, work, and earn money here if they wish.
Schoolchildren will be involved in landscaping, repair and agricultural work, tending to forest plantations, berry picking, and sewing stage costumes and bed linen. Thus, the children will supplement their family budget, bring benefits, and at the same time will not be deprived of the opportunity for an unforgettable summer holiday.
In 2020, it is planned to allocate about 100,000 roubles of state funds for the preparation of stationary camps for work. This assistance will be provided to 29 camps.
In addition, 70 thousand rubles from the regional budget will be allocated to the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population to supplement vouchers for health resorts located within the region. This supplement may be provided no more than once a year to children with disabilities, children from large families, schoolchildren with psychophysical development peculiarities, if their parents are employees of state-funded institutions financed from the regional budget, and other social categories.
