The tasks of the education system are defined in the state programme "Education and Youth Policy" for 2021-2025.

"One of the main tasks in the preschool education system is its accessibility. Over the past five years, we have practically solved the problem of providing children with places in preschool institutions. During this period, more than 70 kindergartens for 14,000 places have been built in the regions. There are still isolated districts with intensive housing development where the issue of walking distance to kindergartens is still relevant. Intensive construction of kindergartens will continue, and more than 90 preschool institutions for 21,000 places are planned to be built by the end of 2025. The majority of them will be in Minsk and the Minsk region," said Igor Petrishenko.

According to him, when building kindergartens, it is important not only to consider the current situation but also to envision the kindergarten's operation in the future, as considerable budget funds are invested, which means the return and efficiency of the kindergarten's operation must be appropriate. "It is necessary to consider various options, including opening family kindergartens, locating institutions or separate groups on the ground floors of residential buildings. There are relevant positive examples of such kindergartens. Investors should be more actively involved in the construction of preschool institutions," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasised.

Igor Petrishenko also addressed the issue of modernising kindergartens and equipping them with modern equipment. He noted that regions need to develop and implement plans for modernisation and equipment supply for the current five-year period. "I also believe that kindergartens, like schools, should undergo commission inspections before the start of the academic year according to unified requirements. In this regard, it is necessary to work out the issue of accepting kindergartens according to rules similar to those for schools," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
