More than Br28 million was spent on upgrading the production and technological base of enterprises in the Vitebsk region in 2023. This year, it is planned to increase the amount of funds for these purposes to over Br30 million. This was stated by Svetlana Zinovyeva, Head of the Department of Social and Labor Relations, Wages and Labor Protection of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, as reported by BELTA.
Along with meeting the socio-economic development parameters of the region, one of the priority areas for managers is preserving the life and health of every employee. In 2023, great attention was paid to strengthening labor and executive discipline, improving working conditions, and preventing industrial injuries.
"Over the year, more than Br28 million was spent on improving working conditions (upgrading the production and technological base of enterprises. - BELTA's note). This allowed for the improvement of working conditions for almost 2,000 people who worked in hazardous conditions. Also, thanks to the work carried out in 2023, the number of industrial injury cases (including fatal, severe, and minor injuries) decreased by almost 7%. The number of employees injured while intoxicated has also decreased," explained Svetlana Zinovyeva.
Speaking about the plans for the current year, she noted that the amount of funds for improving working conditions is increasing every year: "If last year it was around Br28 million, then this year more than Br30-40 million will be allocated for improving working conditions."
