Poacher with Wolf Carcass and Unregistered Weapon Detained in Lepel District

Officials of the Vitebsk Regional Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Environment, jointly with employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, have suppressed illegal wolf hunting in the Lepel District.

Specifically, in the hunting grounds of the district, a car driven by a local resident was stopped for document checks. The car contained a wolf carcass with signs of a gunshot wound.

Documents confirming the legality of the kill and its transportation were absent.

After being stopped, the offender, disobeying the lawful demands of officials, attempted to flee, driving the car towards an inspector and thereby causing him bodily harm.

Subsequently, the offender was detained by traffic police officers.

As a result of the investigation, it was established that the said citizen, without proper authorization, illegally killed two wolves using a hunting rifle of an undetermined make. The damage caused to the environment amounted to 140 base units.
