According to her, couples now register their marriages year-round, undeterred by cold weather or religious fasts. For example, while 35 families were formed in July of this year, January saw not much fewer – 24. However, grooms and brides are still wary of May: only eight couples tied the knot. Incidentally, there has been an increase in the number of couples wishing to register their relationships during the week, and the overall number of marriages has also risen.
The traditionally busy period is expected to be August-September. For now, the month with the most wedding celebrations is June. Forty couples concluded marriages in June, which is twice as many as in June of the previous year. July 2012, with 32 marriages, almost matched the current year's figure.
An equal number of couples – 14 in each month – ended their marital relations in June-July. In July, 11 couples divorced through court, while in June, there were six. Of these, three were remarriages that ended in divorce, and four involved couples without children. The popular age range for divorcees in June was 30-37 years. In July, older individuals also took this step. For instance, a couple divorced where the former husband was 51 and the wife was 53. The youngest couple involved a 24-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man. Incidentally, in most divorces, women blame their former husbands.
Lepel statistics refute the notion that men die more frequently. In June, there were 25 male deaths compared to 29 female deaths. In July, out of 52 deceased individuals, 30 were women. Cardiovascular diseases continue to be the deadliest for the majority. In June, they claimed the lives of 12 people, and in July – 13. Oncology ranks second, and injuries third. In June, 25 people over the age of 80 passed away, and in July – 12. In the 60-80 age group, 19 people died in each of the two summer months. The current June was the last for two Lepel residents aged 30-40. In July, one of their peers died. Sadly, death does not spare children either. Since the beginning of the year, five individuals under the age of 18 have died.
The first summer month brought joy to the parents of 40 newborns. In July, 33 babies were born.
