On October 10, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovetov - BELTA /. Braslav, Polotsk and Rossonsky districts were the first in the Vitebsk region to complete the harvesting of fodder corn, the Agriculture and Food Committee of the regional executive committee informed the BELTA correspondent.
According to data as of October 10, the crop has been harvested in the region as a whole on an area of almost 90 thousand hectares, or 85.2% of the plan. The gross harvest of green mass exceeds 3 million tons. The average yield is 341.6 centners per hectare, which is more than 40% higher than the same indicator in 2010, while in four districts of the region, the yield exceeded 400 centners per hectare. In addition, in eight districts, corn is being harvested for grain, with almost 2.6 thousand tons threshed at an average yield of about 70 centners per hectare.
In total, farms in the region have prepared over 1.26 million tons of fodder units, and the target for this indicator has been fulfilled by 99%. The feed supply per conventional head of cattle is about 27.3 centners of fodder units, which is almost 2.9 centners higher than the indicator for the same period in 2010. About 165.3 thousand tons of hay, over 2.2 million tons of haylage, and more than 2.4 million tons of silage have been prepared.
In the region, potatoes have been harvested on an area of almost 6.1 thousand hectares, or 94% of the plan. A total of about 124.4 thousand tons have been dug, with an average yield of 205 centners per hectare, which is almost 42% more than the yield in 2010. In addition, carrots have been harvested on 70% of the areas, with 5.2 thousand tons collected, beets - on more than 80% (over 5.2 thousand tons), cabbage - on about 38% of the areas, with almost 4 thousand tons of this crop collected. -0-
