October 4, Lepel /Own. inf./. At the European Junior Weightlifting Championship held in Bucharest (Romania), Lepel resident, Master of Sports Aliaksandr Bersanau – a graduate of the Lepel branch of the specialized children's and youth sports school of the Olympic reserve "Sport-Alliance" of the regional sports club of trade unions (coach Anatol Suvorin), achieved a very high sporting result – he won a bronze medal. In the weight category up to 85 kilograms, Aliaksandr lifted 191 kilograms in the clean and jerk, and 153 kilograms in the snatch. Moreover, in the clean and jerk, he showed the third result among all 35 competitors representing various European countries, for which he was awarded a small bronze medal, and in the snatch, he took second place – becoming the owner of a small silver medal. As a result, based on the sum of the two lifts, he was awarded the third prize place – this is a good foundation for future sporting achievements not only at the European but also at the world level.

The joyful news about Aliaksandr Bersanau's successful performance at the continental championship was received with pleasure by his former classmates from Secondary School No. 1, as well as his mother, Valentina Yauhenyeuna.

Aliaksandr studies at the Vitebsk Regional School of Higher Sports Mastery. Although in recent months he has spent most of his time in Staiki at the Olympic sports base, as he is a member of the National Weightlifting Team of our country. He trains under the guidance of the senior coach of the Belarusian national team, Viktor Sharshukou.
