The Belarusian Republican Youth Union will launch the republican interfaith charity project "Restoration of Holy Sites. Springs of Belarus" on April 12 in the village of Pustynki, Mstislavsky District, Mogilev Region, on the territory of the Holy Assumption Male Monastery, as reported to BelTA by Roman Mamchenko, coordinator of the BRSM "Kind Heart" volunteer movement.
"On this day, volunteers of the BRSM "Kind Heart" and members of student teams will be tidying up the Mstislav land. The focus of youth care will be the improvement of the Holy Assumption Male Monastery. BRSM activists will clear the territory adjacent to the monastery of last year's leaves, deadwood, and windbreak, plant a garden of 75 fruit trees, and install benches," said Roman Mamchenko.
Significant work will also be carried out to improve one of the monastery's three healing springs, a well known locally as Yefrosinievskaya. "With the efforts of the youth union volunteers, it is planned to reconstruct the staircase with railings leading to the spring, install a canopy over it, and equip a collection chamber for pilgrims to easily collect the healing water," noted the coordinator of the volunteer movement.
Since 2013, the BRSM has been implementing the republican interfaith charity campaign "Restoration of Holy Sites of Belarus." During this time, volunteers have improved over 1.3 thousand religious sites throughout Belarus. In the Year of Small Motherlands, the project is titled "Restoration of Holy Sites. Springs of Belarus," with a focus on improving holy springs and wells. It is aimed at fostering and developing spiritual and moral values in the younger generation based on the traditions of the Belarusian people, as well as drawing the attention of youth to the preservation of springs and small rivers of Belarus.
