BRSM plans to fully switch to an electronic accounting system in 2018 by introducing electronic membership cards in the form of payment plastic cards. This was stated at the reporting and election conference of the Gomel regional organization of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of BRSM, Andrey Belyakov, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The First Secretary explained that the electronic card is not only an identification document that will allow to identify a person's affiliation with the youth organisation. Simultaneously, it will perform the functions of a discount card, a payment plastic card, and an electronic wallet, where, for example, money earned in a student work crew will be credited.
Andrey Belyakov noted that seven districts of the country have been identified for the implementation of the pilot project, and the cards themselves are already functioning. "If everything goes well, then by the 43rd congress of the NGO "BRSM", which will take place in 2018, or a little later, we will completely switch from paper tickets to electronic ones. In 2015, a decision was made that allows this to be done. Now, slowly but surely, we are moving towards the organisation fully switching to an electronic accounting system," he said.
