BRSM doubled the number of nominations for the "100 Ideas for Belarus" competition

The Republican Youth Competition "100 Ideas for Belarus" is launching in all regions of the country. Taking into account the Year of Science, the number of nominations has increased from 10 to 20. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the acting second secretary of the Central Committee of the PRYM, project coordinator Elina Braga.

The nominations cover medicine, pharmaceutical and biotechnologies, energy and energy efficiency, nuclear energy, and other areas important for the economy. Young people, author teams aged 14 to 31, as well as young scientists up to 35 years old are invited to participate in the new season of the competition. "The new season of the '100 Ideas for Belarus' competition will be held in three stages. The first is the acceptance of applications at the local level, the second is selection at the regional (Minsk city) levels. The final stage will be the annual youth exhibition-presentation of the best innovative projects and scientific-technical ideas in a technology show format," said Elina Braga. She noted that from this year, people with disabilities can participate in the competition on an equal footing.

Applications for participation can be sent to the territorial committees of the PRYM, as well as by filling out an online application on the competition website 100ideas.by. All submitted projects are planned to be posted in the idea bank here. They can also be found in the "100 Ideas for Belarus" competition groups on social networks.

Regional (Minsk city) and republican expert councils have been established to conduct the competition. "The latter includes representatives of government bodies and organizations, public associations, scientists, and representatives of the business community. Experts will assess not only the relevance and novelty of the idea, but also the practical significance of the work," explained the competition curator.

Winners will receive vouchers to participate in the international youth competition of CIS member states "100 Ideas for the CIS - 2018", which is scheduled to be held in Minsk. School students and students of vocational colleges, lyceums and secondary vocational schools will be additionally encouraged with recommendations from the Central Committee of the BRSM Public Association for admission to higher education institutions for specialties corresponding to the profile of their competition project. Students will receive an invitation to attend the "Turnkey Young Scientist" school at the National Academy of Sciences. In addition, all finalists of "100 Ideas for Belarus" will simultaneously participate in the republican competition of innovative projects. For further participation in it, 10 authors of winning projects are guaranteed to receive grants of up to 40 tariff rates for the development of business plans.

The "100 Ideas for Belarus" competition has been held by the BRSM since 2011. The project is implemented with the aim of stimulating the innovative thinking of youth and involving them in solving the socio-economic development tasks of the country. According to Elina Bragin, "100 Ideas for Belarus" is a basic startup for the national movement of young scientists, inventors, and innovators. "This is an excellent opportunity to make yourself known throughout the country, receive assistance in accompanying an author's project, participate in exhibitions and master classes, and gain experience in communicating with investors, entrepreneurs, and representatives of various funds," she is confident.
