Running fast and shooting accurately is the formula for success for students who competed in the district competitions in cross-country skiing, air rifle shooting, and biathlon "Snow Sniper". "Biathlon is born here" is the refrain that each of you can see on the television screen. Not everyone is destined to reach the laurels of the three-time Olympic champion Domracheva. The main thing is that love for winter sports and a healthy lifestyle is born here. "Snow Sniper" itself was born relatively recently – about ten years ago. Even at the very first starts, it had no equal in success and mass participation. It is also important that amateurs who do not study in specialized children's and youth sports schools participate in this improvised biathlon. And, of course, for everyone, the pinnacle is the republican, final stage of the competition for prizes from the Presidential Sports Club. After all, there is a chance not only to show your skills in front of many fans but also to communicate with the legends of Belarusian sports Oleg Ryzhenkov, Elena Zubrilova, Sergey Dolidovich, and the main biathlon "prima" – Darya Domracheva. A mass start and a mixed relay in various age groups are planned for February. Getting there is only possible by going through the crucible of preliminary trials.
It was evident to the naked eye that the challenges awaiting our participants at the Borovskaya Secondary School and the Inter-school Center for Pre-conscription Training of the Lepel District would not be easy. The course demanded a battle against cold weather, viscous snow, and competitors. In the shooting range, the primary opponent was oneself, where strong nerves and stress resistance came to the forefront. The final results highlighted that the overwhelming majority of podium places were secured by representatives of rural schools. What does this indicate? Perhaps it suggests a better level of physical development and fewer temptations in rural areas. Among the girls in the senior age group, the first place was won by Anna Shapo (Starolyadnyanskaya Kindergarten-Secondary School), the second by Darya Pototskaya (Matyrinskaya Kindergarten-Secondary School), and the third by Alina Pasmurets (Zaslonovskaya Secondary School). In the junior category, Karina Skorokhodko (Starolyadnyanskaya Kindergarten-Secondary School) emerged victorious, Elena Baran (Starolepelskaya Basic School) took second place, and Viktoria Pligovka (Gymnasium named after I. M. Yerashov) secured third.
Among the boys in the senior age group, Yevgeny Zolotukho (Stayskaya Secondary School) outcompeted his rivals, Alexander Alekseev (Zaslonovskaya Secondary School) came in second, and Matvey Stepuk (Borovskaya Secondary School) took third place. In the junior group, Timofey Khatskevich (Domzheritskaya Secondary School) was the winner, while Bogdan Shastitko (Borovskaya Secondary School) and Alexander Mudrogel (Starolyadnyanskaya Kindergarten-Secondary School) earned second and third places respectively.
In the team competition, the "bronze" went to Borovskaya Secondary School, and the "silver" to Matyrinskaya Kindergarten-Secondary School. The victory was claimed by the athletes of Starolyadnyanskaya Kindergarten-Secondary School.
— Quite recently, we secured first place overall in the winter multi-event "Health." We trained for two consecutive weeks before the "Snow Sniper" competition, — says Alexander Zaitsev, a physical education teacher at Starolyadnyanskaya Kindergarten-Secondary School. — The students gladly stayed after school, ran on the snowy track, and engaged in physical fitness training. Karina Skorokhodko deservedly proved herself to be the strongest in the junior group. You must agree that for a girl to jump over two meters and perform around fifty push-ups is a very high achievement.
