On September 13, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo – BELTA /. The former director of a agricultural enterprise in Sharkaushchyna District accepted bribes of a mobile phone, a laptop, and a shower cabin, and received punishment for it, Igor Lisovsky, prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime Department of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, told a BELTA correspondent. As established during the court investigation, the former head of the farm agreed to expedite payments for work performed by a private construction company only after its managers presented him with a mobile phone, a laptop, and a hydromassage shower cabin as a reward. Although the total value of the bribe slightly exceeded Br6 million, the court sentenced the 48-year-old former director to restriction of liberty without being sent to an open-type correctional institution for a term of 3 years and 6 months, with the deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational, managerial, and administrative-economic functions for a term of 3 years. Based on Article 8 of the Law "On Amnesty for Certain Categories of Persons Who Have Committed Crimes" dated July 9, 2012, the court decided to partially release him from the punishment in the form of restriction of liberty for one year. The mobile phone and the shower cabin were confiscated, but the bribe-taker managed to throw the laptop into the river. The crime was detected as a result of operational-search activities carried out by the 9th Department (for Vitebsk Region) of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
