Belarusian Railway continues its work to prevent non-production-related injuries. In connection with the upcoming holidays, special attention will be paid to preventing accidents involving minors. From May 28 to June 7, employees of the Belarusian railway will organise meetings with schoolchildren in educational institutions and children's health camps located in close proximity to the railway, during which explanatory and preventive discussions will be held. Raids are also planned, with particular attention being paid to children and adolescents left unsupervised by adults near railway tracks, at stations, and on trains.
Additional information for citizens on safety measures when on railway transport facilities will be provided at stations and on trains.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been 39 cases of non-production-related injuries on Belarusian Railway. The main causes of accidents remain the disregard of safety measures by citizens, in particular, being in a high-risk zone while intoxicated, talking on mobile phones and listening to music with headphones while crossing railway tracks, and drivers violating traffic rules when crossing railway crossings, etc. Since the beginning of the year alone, 81 people have been brought to administrative responsibility for crossing railway tracks in an unauthorised place.
To ensure public safety in the first quarter of this year, Belarusian Railway carried out repairs to 5 passenger platforms and 14 pedestrian crossings, major repairs to one and asphalting at 12 railway crossings, and improved lighting at 19 passenger platforms and 68 railway crossings.
"The railway is an increased source of danger. Do not leave children unattended and do not allow them to play near railway tracks, do not walk on railway tracks, do not cross them in unauthorized places. It is also forbidden to run across tracks in front of an approaching train, jump from platforms, crawl under rolling stock, ride on the cabins and roofs of motor rolling stock and locomotives, place foreign objects on the tracks, throw stones at moving rolling stock, use headphones near the railway track and talk on a mobile phone. Compliance with these rules can save your life and the lives of your loved ones," the Belarusian Railway emphasized.
