February 22, Minsk / Olga Belyavskaya - BELTA /. The Belarusian Railway has fully modernized the signaling and communication devices at Novopolotsk station, the press service of Belarusian Railway informed a BELTA correspondent. Modern systems have been put into operation at the station - microprocessor-based electric interlocking and yard automatic interlocking. In addition, an automatic block system using microprocessor technologies has been launched on the Ksty-Novopolotsk section. This innovation has been applied on the railway for the first time. "Unlike relay automatic block, it is less energy-intensive and has expanded functional capabilities for interval control of train traffic," the press service explained. The implementation of the project has made it possible to completely update and modernize the signaling and communication devices on the Ksty-Novopolotsk section and at Novopolotsk station. Today, modern microprocessor-based electric interlocking systems are also operational at Polotsk and Stepyanka stations. The interlocking system controls switches and signals and is designed to manage train traffic and shunting operations at the station. Microprocessor-based interlocking is a multi-level automated system that performs a number of functions, including technical diagnostics and failure monitoring, event archiving, and integration with dispatcher control and automatic block systems. The implementation of electric interlocking devices using microprocessor technologies is one of the priority areas of Belarusian Railway's work aimed at ensuring train traffic safety and increasing the efficiency of the transportation process management. -0-
