5 October, Minsk /Tatsiana Ivaniuk - BELTA/. Belarusian Railway has commissioned the second construction phase of modern automatic block signalling and electric interlocking on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the press service of Belarusian Railway. Specialists clarified that the new equipment was installed at Shumilino, Lovsha, Obol, and Glushanyno stations. Automatic block signalling (AVE 1-VS) using microprocessor technologies was first commissioned in 2011 on the Ksty-Novopolotsk section. Compared to relay-based automatic block signalling, it offers broader functional capabilities for interval-based train traffic regulation. The interlocking system provides control over points and signals. It is designed for managing train traffic and shunting operations at a station. The press service noted that the implementation of this equipment is one of the priority areas of Belarusian Railway's work aimed at ensuring train traffic safety and improving the efficiency of the transportation process management. By the end of 2012, it is planned to commission the third construction phase, replacing the automatic block signalling and electric interlocking devices at Goryany, Fomino, and Sosnitsa stations. Thus, the project implementation will be completed. Its result will be the complete renewal and modernisation of signalling and communication devices on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section, which is one of the most high-traffic routes in Belarus. Earlier, during the implementation of the first construction phase of modern automatic block signalling this year, outdated devices were replaced at stations and on sections of the Chepino-Yazvino section.-0-
