8 May, Minsk /Olga Belyavskaya - BELTA/. Belarusian Railway has commissioned the first construction phase of a modern automatic block system on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section, BELTA was informed by the press service of Belarusian Railway. "The first construction phase of an automatic block system employing microprocessor technologies has been commissioned on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section," the press service stated. "A similar automatic block system was first commissioned last year on the Ksty-Novopolotsk section." Unlike relay automatic block systems, it offers broader functional capabilities for interval train traffic control. During the project implementation, the interlocking and automatic block devices at stations and on the sections between Chepino and Yazvino were replaced. Currently, construction, installation, and commissioning works are underway for the second and third construction phases of the automatic block system on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section. The result of these works will be the complete replacement of outdated automatic block and electric interlocking devices with modern equipment. This will allow for the renewal and modernisation of signalling and communication devices on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section, which is one of the busiest on Belarusian Railway. The interlocking system ensures the control of points and signals and is designed to manage train traffic and shunting operations at a station. The implementation of automatic block and electric interlocking devices using microprocessor technologies is one of the priority areas of Belarusian Railway's work aimed at ensuring train traffic safety and improving the efficiency of the transportation process management.-0-
