From January 23, Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus No. 31 "On issues of municipal waste management" has come into force.

As noted by Olga Bazhenova, Head of the District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Resolution establishes that, in accordance with the requirements of TКП 17.11-08-2024, the following municipal waste shall be collected separately: paper and cardboard waste, glass, plastics, metal, wood waste, worn-out tires, plant waste, bulky waste, construction waste, waste electrical and electronic equipment, used oils, mercury-containing waste, food waste, batteries, and medicinal products.

The disposal of such waste in containers intended for mixed municipal waste is prohibited and entails administrative liability of up to 30 base units for individuals, up to one hundred base units for individual entrepreneurs, and up to one thousand base units for legal entities.
