This year, the cold weather has lingered for almost two months. May is just around the corner, yet it still freezes at night or snows occasionally. Why is spring delayed? At the Zaslonovo school, they joke that it's because our young artists and other creative individuals are in no hurry to part with their winter mood and inspiration.
The results of project and research work, which the pupils have been engaged in since the beginning of this academic year, are being summarised in the junior classes. The research project is titled "Zimushka-Zima" (Winter-Winter), and it was carried out with the direct involvement of parents. Among the competition entries, one can see joint works by teacher Olga Kirkizh and her daughter Elizaveta, calculator centre specialist Tatyana Klimentionok with her daughter Katerina, medical worker Olga Prudnikova with her daughter Lera, shop assistant Natalia Shikova with her daughter Dana, and others.
The results of the project work, thanks to the efforts of the children and their teachers Tatyana Bondal, Maria Orlova, Galina Rubel, Tatyana Vasilyeva, Alena Kashtalyanova, and Olga Kirkizh, have been systematised. A large multidisciplinary exhibition has been created. One can see all sorts of things there – drawings, crafts, poetic works, and even entire newspapers. Each of the primary classes has made a worthy contribution to the common treasury of talents.
First-graders learned songs and actively participated in a musical composition on the theme of "Winter". Second-graders made crafts and wrote poems. Third-graders created a winter pop-up book, which included poems, songs, riddles, proverbs, and sayings. The book is richly illustrated with drawings. The older participants of the competition project – fourth-graders – published their own newspaper, the content of which included not only poems and drawings but also useful information of a natural and everyday nature – for example, winter signs, rules of conduct during cold weather, etc.
A competition of poems by Belarusian and Russian poets, an educational game "Who am I? What am I like?", and a report on children's observations of bird behaviour – how they overwintered, whether birds dream, etc. – all culminated in a grand final performance "Maslenitsa", which marked a creative farewell to winter and a welcome to spring. Parents were invited to review the results of the year-long research project.
