On February 9, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A "reading person" is being sought in Polotsk. The city's Central Library System, in the Year of the Book, has announced a photo contest "Reading Person," the head of Library No. 3 named after Yanka Kupala, Valentina Bogdanova, told a BELTA correspondent. The main objective of the contest is to promote reading. Photo works of various genres – artistic, reportage – will be accepted until August of the current year, and on Library Day, September 15, the names of the winners will be announced. All of them will receive prizes, and their works will adorn the library halls. Everyone is invited to participate in the contest: both professionals and amateurs. Winners will be determined in two categories – works by photographers under 21 years of age and works by those over 21. According to Valentina Bogdanova, who has been working in the library system for two decades, judging by the number of readers, photographers will not have to search for a reading person. "The number of readers is not decreasing, their interests are changing. Young people gladly use e-books and audiobooks, but the traditional book is not yielding its leadership either," the interviewee stated. In her opinion, the Year of the Book, declared in Belarus, will contribute not only to the promotion of reading but also to the expansion of book publishing activities. -0-
