One and a half tons of stage props for the performance, an orchestra of 20 virtuoso musicians, without a conductor. What else will surprise the residents and guests of the northern capital during the Days of Culture of the Novosibirsk Region in the Republic of Belarus? Vladimir Babariko, the artistic director of the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic, shared the details.
The large-scale event will take place in three cities – Minsk, Brest, and Vitebsk. The northern capital was chosen by the Novosibirsk delegation for a reason: it is the birthplace of Ivan Sollertinsky, an outstanding musicologist of the 20th century and artistic director of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, who was evacuated to Novosibirsk during the war and lived his final years there.
“We have been cooperating closely with Moscow and St. Petersburg, and other Russian cities, for a long time, but we only began to establish close relations with Novosibirsk last year,” noted Vladimir Babariko. “We are very pleased that the aspiration for the unity of two fraternal peoples is so strong that our colleagues from northern Russia will overcome a great distance to present their unique programmes to us.”
On May 24, at 7 PM, the ensemble of soloists “Novosibirsk Camerata” of the Novosibirsk State Philharmonic, a unique string orchestra of 20 virtuoso musicians performing without a conductor, will present the concert programme “Concertogrosso – A Connection of Times” to the Vitebsk public. The musicians will perform works not only by renowned composers such as Antonio Vivaldi, Luigi Boccherini, and Charles Gounod, but also by the Siberian composer Sergey Kravtsov, who composed several classical pieces based on themes by the band “The Beatles”.
On May 26, at 6 PM, a grand concert by the State Academic Siberian Russian Folk Choir will take place. In the first part, the ensemble will present the programme “A Tribute to Feat,” expressing gratitude to the Fatherland’s defenders who participated in the battles for the liberation of the fraternal people. In the second part, at the request of their Belarusian colleagues, the ensemble will perform the programme “Siberian Freedom.” This is a unique snapshot of the cultural traditions of the Siberian Cossacks, an authorial interpretation of the process of influence of the traditional culture of the peoples of Siberia on the formation and development of Cossackdom.
