The second open Vitebsk regional championship for earth dogs on an artificial P-shaped burrow with CACT rank will be held in the Gorodok district on August 19-20, Tatiana Lobkova, leading specialist in cynological work of the Vitebsk regional organizational structure of the RGOO "Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen", told a BELTA correspondent.
"These competitions are very important for cynologists. The CACT rank gives the championship an international level. We expect participants not only from Vitebsk, but also from Mogilev, Grodno, Gomel, Minsk regions, as well as from Latvia and Russia. For a dog owner who has come with a pet from another country, receiving an international certificate for a prize-winning place is particularly prestigious. In total, we expect 50 dogs. These are dachshunds, fox terriers, Jagdterriers, and Welsh terriers," explained Tatiana Lobkova.
The Gorodok district, specifically the village of Terehi, was not chosen by chance. There is a track (burrow passages) here that meets the requirements for such championships. The task of each dog is to quickly pick up the scent and drive out a silver fox. Judges must record the course of the hunt and separate the animals in time. A duty veterinarian monitors the safety of both foxes and dogs.
Anyone interested can watch the exciting competitions. A tent camp will be set up nearby for participants, with mobile trade organized and a friendly fish soup for lunch provided by the organizers, which is the Vitebsk regional organizational structure of the RGOO "BSHF".
