11 June, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. A four-year-old child suffered burns during a picnic on a lake in Chashniki District, the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Department informed a BELTA correspondent.
The boy, with burns to his face, neck, right arm, and torso, was taken to the Novolukoml Central District Hospital by his parents on Sunday evening. According to them, the family was making a campfire while relaxing on Lake Lukomlskoye. The child was under supervision, but as soon as his mother turned away for a moment, the child got into the fire.
As Nikolay Pinchuk, Chief Physician of Novolukoml Central District Hospital, told a BELTA correspondent, 15% of the child's body surface was affected, and he sustained second-to-third-degree burns. The child's condition is serious but stable. He is currently in intensive care, receiving intensive therapy. Doctors are currently unable to say how long the child will remain in the hospital.-0-
