In the Vitebsk region, in January-September of the current year, 14 officials, including one head of an organization, were dismissed for violating labor protection rules that led to cases of severe injury or death at work. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Sergey Anufriev, First Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the State Labor Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. Officials of Orsha Meat Canning Plant, Vitebsk Electric Networks branch of RUP Vitebskenergo, OJSC Novopolotsklift, KUSHP Kashchinskoye (Chashniksky district), OJSC Vitebskles, OJSC Lipovtsy, and a number of construction enterprises lost their jobs for violations that caused the death or severe injury of workers. As Sergey Anufriev noted, the region maintains constant control over the unconditional termination of employment contracts by employers with employees for violating labor protection and safety rules, which resulted in the injury or death of another employee. "No cases of failure to terminate employment contracts with officials during the implementation of the requirements of Directive No. 1 on these issues have been recorded in the past period," he said. According to the results of special investigations conducted in January-September, 12 workers were found to be in a state of alcohol intoxication at the time of the accident (including 6 in cases of fatal accidents). For gross violations in accordance with the requirements of Directive No. 1, employment contracts with three employees of various enterprises have already been terminated. The remaining employees who received injuries while in a state of alcohol intoxication are undergoing treatment. In total, over 9 months of the current year, state labor inspectors of the regional department conducted almost 1.1 thousand inspections to ensure control over employers' creation of healthy and safe working conditions, revealing 11.6 thousand violations. For safety reasons, the operation of 556 machine tools, machines, and other equipment, and 33 workshops (sections) was suspended or prohibited. At the request of state labor inspectors, 1.1 thousand workers were suspended from work due to not having undergone training in safe methods and techniques of work, as well as not being provided with the necessary personal protective equipment.
