This opinion was expressed to journalists by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Belarus, Valery Mitskevich, who held a reception for citizens at the Dyatlovo District Executive Committee today, BELTA correspondent reports. "An official is a representative of the state. He must delve into the problems that people bring to him and make every effort to help," said Valery Mitskevich. "Unfortunately, we still see that this is not always the case at the local level. Often, decisions are made that are formally correct." However, it is necessary to talk to people, to visit the person who appealed an extra time, to double-check, and then, perhaps, a number of issues would have been resolved at the local level, and not so many people would have come to the mobile receptions of officials, noted Valery Mitskevich. Today, 22 people were registered for the reception with the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration. The population's issues concerned the resolution of land disputes, housing and communal problems, employment, and the quality of medical care. Those who failed to reach an agreement with the employer in settlements upon dismissal, who disagree with the termination of a criminal case, and others also came to the reception. "During such receptions, we check whether the documents adopted in the republic work in practice, how exactly they are being implemented, and identify any shortcomings," noted Valery Mitskevich. In particular, a number of documents have recently been adopted in the country to support entrepreneurship, including Directive No. 4. However, it cannot be said that novice entrepreneurs receive comprehensive support in practice. For example, a novice entrepreneur from Dyatlovo came to the reception today, and it turned out from his example that not a single mechanism for supporting entrepreneurship has worked so far. Today, the state's policy is aimed at giving people the opportunity to express themselves, create new jobs, and improve their well-being, and officials, working with entrepreneurs at the local level, must help in this, noted the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration. -0-
