13 June, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Officials need to communicate more with workforces and speak to the press. This opinion was expressed to journalists today by the Minister of Information of Belarus, Oleg Proleskovsky, following a meeting with workers at OJSC "KIM" in Vitebsk, a BELTA correspondent reports. According to Oleg Proleskovsky, formed during numerous trips around the country and meetings with the population, the independence of Belarus is paramount for the people. "The most important thing is that people understand that we have built a country. They are ready to tighten their belts, but Belarus will endure," he is convinced. At the same time, during the meetings, fair criticism is voiced against enterprise managers and officials regarding the untimely and inaccurate execution of the head of state's instructions. "If we had all executed the President's directives accurately and on time, it would be easier for us now," stated Oleg Proleskovsky. This primarily concerns the implementation of import substitution programs and the introduction of local types of fuel. "People know that the government, under the leadership of the President, will fulfill everything it promises. This government must go and communicate: from the pages of newspapers, from television screens, on the radio. People must understand the essence of what the government is doing," the Minister of Information is convinced. Despite the need to reduce state programs, the state will remain socially oriented as it has been. "The person has been at the helm, and will remain so. That slogan with which the President went into the elections, "We are together, we are united" now takes on a double meaning. Only together will we emerge from the current situation stronger and more cohesive," emphasized Oleg Proleskovsky.-0-
