Minsk should serve as an example for other regions of the country in terms of improvement and development of local self-government. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, while hearing a report on the development of the capital, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The Head of State recalled that the issue of improving local self-government in the capital had been discussed earlier, and the President's requirement is for Minsk to be an example in this regard. "I would like to hear your considerations regarding city management – how power functions here, what will happen next," added the Belarusian leader.
The discussion also touched upon the improvement of the city. "Minsk is the face of the country, and using Minsk as an example, we must show the regions how it should develop," said Alexander Lukashenko. Currently, according to the President, the pace of the city's improvement is insufficient, and the scale of work needs to be increased. "Two to three sites is not our pace. We need to task everyone. We have 9 heads of administrations – let them organise people, involve local self-government, housing and communal services, so that the people of Minsk are proud of their city," stated the Head of State.
