President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, answering questions during the event "Open Microphone with the President" with university students of the Vitebsk region on September 2, explained why such meetings are important to him, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The Head of State emphasized that the event held was of great importance to him. "This meeting is very important to me. I decided to meet with representatives, students of our universities this year to tell them, so that in an open conversation they can feel what the country is living by," said Alexander Lukashenko.
The President explained that for him, as a person vested with great powers and making key decisions on the development of Belarus, it was also important to receive feedback from student representatives, to learn about the sentiments and aspirations of this category of Belarusian society. "I felt what you are living by. And you are the future. Therefore, I felt the future of our country," the Head of State noted.
At the end of the meeting, the President was presented with a handmade oak chess set from the entire student youth of the Vitebsk region as a gift, symbolizing the history of the region. As promised, it will take its place in the Palace of Independence, where other gifts from foreign leaders, political and public figures, famous people, and work collectives of the country's enterprises and organizations are also kept.
